Work backwards from a product niche
Instead of hunting for stores, hunt for products. Search a narrow niche — “merino base layer”, “cold brew concentrate” — and every result is a merchant already validated in that category. Broad keywords find big brands; specific ones find the independents.

Filter by price band
Price bracket is a fast proxy for positioning. Filtering to a band shows who competes at that tier and who has room above or below. Prices in the catalog are exact, so a min/max filter is a reliable segment, not an estimate.

A minimum rating with a minimum review count separates established sellers from new listings. High review counts signal sustained sales volume, which is usually a better maturity signal than storefront design.

How the search works
Most “Shopify store finder” tools work from a scraped list of domains that goes stale the moment it is built. This one queries Shopify’s Global Catalog directly — a cross-merchant index that participating stores publish into. You search products, and the merchants come back attached to them.
Because it is live first-party data, prices, ratings and stock status are current rather than a snapshot. The Products tab shows individual listings; the Stores tab groups those same results by merchant and ranks them by how many matching products each one sells — useful for spotting which stores specialise in a niche versus which stock it incidentally.
